High Protein – Low Carb Green Smoothie
This first time I ever heard about a green smoothie I was about ready to vomit! I mean a green, vegetable filled smoothie. Like really? But finally I had come around to trying a small, tiny sip. And I was hooked!
After having such a good experience I decided to play around and make a low carb green smoothie. As most green smoothies, its base revolves around spinach.
I decided to then complement it with avocados, mainly for their texture. I also wanted to give my smoothie a punch of power with some zero carb vanilla protein powder. The protein ads just a bit of sweetener but without making it taste powdery and gross.
As you may have noticed, mason jars are pretty in so of course I got one of my very own and decided to show it off in my smoothie pictures.
If your new to green smoothies, low carb or maybe both, let me save you the struggle and contemplation with this deliciously simple smoothie recipe. This nutrient rich smoothie is perfect as a power snack or 3 minute breakfast.

Can you make these ahead of time?? Maybe a a weeks worth and store in the fridge to save time?
Andres Regalado says
I haven’t tried it but I believe it should last in the fridge for at least a few days. Hope you enjoy the smoothie 🙂

What do you use for the sweetener?
Andres Regalado says
Jim, I use granulated erythritol or Swerve as my sweetener. Hope you give this smoothie a try, it’s delicious!

Do you need to use fresh spinach or will frozen work? I dont want to try it out and ruin my first attempt. 🙂 Love your website and I also love isopure. I use it in my pumpkin pancakes. delish!
Cheers!

How did you calculate your calories for this? Based on my calculations I show this drink to be almost 250 calories. Don’t get me wrong…. the calories are all very nutrient dense and healthy but wondering where you got your 165 calorie label?
2 cups spinach – 14 cal
1 cup almond milk – 30 cal
1/2 Avocado – 138 cal
Scoop protein powder – 60 cal (minimum)

I utilized calorie estimations from the product food labels I used and/or information on websites like nutritiondata.self.com. Estimations do vary by source and individual products used so I always recommend people to calculate them for themselves. Hope you enjoyed the recipe, Dani. 🙂
