Sugar Free & Low Carb Cinnamon “Sugar” Doughnuts
The other day someone brought a box of delicious looking carb loaded doughnuts to the office. With little surprise, the buzz flew and before I knew it there was email after email reminding everyone that we had every doughnut imaginable like glazed, filled, and the infamous cinnamon sugar.
I can’t lie.. I did take a long gander over at the box when taking the long walk to the water jug, at least three times. Needless to say, I was craving doughnuts.
Once this last weekend came around I knew the first thing on my to do list was developing a low carb cinnamon sugar doughnut recipe that would please my diet and taste buds. I won’t lie and say I got it on the first time, because I didn’t. It took me three times and over three dozen doughnuts until I got the recipe to it’s delicious state as it is now.
Make it at home

- Melt butter in one bowl and in a separate bowl combine remaining sweetener and cinnamon.
- Dip each doughnut in melted butter, then roll in cinnamon "sugar" to coat.

I bought a mini donut pan just so I could make these donuts, they turned out great. So good!! With variations this recipe could make all kinds of donuts! I followed every direction and used xylitol as my sweetener, though I baked for 3 extra minutes because my oven isn’t the best.

I definitely plan on altering this recipe for future concoctions! Glad you enjoyed your doughnuts, Danielle π

This looks awesome, and I’m super excited to try and make it! Is there any suitable substitute for the protein powder? I never keep neutral flavors around the house and don’t want to buy it just for one recipe.

They’re delicious! If your looking to skip the protein powder I’d suggest to slightly up the sweetener and vanilla extract. Hope you enjoy the recipe, Marissa π

Okay, so really excited about trying this recipe out. I just bought one of the babycakes triple delight maker and was curious as to if the recipe would be fine going into the little makers or if you think it would flop. Also, I only have plain protein powder – think that would work with a little extra vanilla and a pinch of sweetener? My 5 year old decided she wanted to eat like mommy and threw out all her candy and treats and said I didn’t have to buy bread again if I could promise her a yummy donut that works with how we eat. π
Thanks in advanced!

Good luck with the new babycakes maker! As for the recipe, you should be fine with original protein powder and a little more vanilla extract and sweetener. Your 5 year old sounds adorable! It’s always great to have support from the family π
