Low Carb Shopping List

Low Carb Shopping List

Hello there low carbers, as you may know, my name is Andres and I like love to share all of my simple low carb, high protein recipes. I’ve been cooking and eating low carb for over 2 years, but it wasn’t until I lost 50 pounds that I realized the true power of low carb cooking in my home.

As a food blogger in the low carb community, I tend to get a lot of questions about what low carb ingredients I use, where to buy them and how to use them. So, I’ve summarized the major products that have made the world of a difference when cooking and baking low carb recipes. This low carb grocery shopping list will hopefully help fellow low carbers in purchasing the lowest carb ingredients, that I know of.

The information I have combined in this low carb resource catalog provides suggestions and recommendations for various products, but by no means does it cover every single low carb product available nor is every product right for every person. Also- I want to disclose that some of the links below are affiliate links, as these are the very products I use and trust on daily basis, I feel comfortable in recommending them to you.

Low Carb Shopping List

Almond Flour / Meal
Bob’s Red Mill – Firstly, almond flour and almond meal are the very same thing and can be used correspondently in recipes. Almond flour comes from the grinding of raw almonds and results in a finely grounded power, perfect for low carb recipes. Almond flour is high in protein and full of flavor which is why its my go-to flour for nearly all low carb recipes.

Sweeteners
Swerve Sweetener – Artificial sweeteners can cause stalled or slow weight loss for certain individuals so it’s important to experiment and find the perfect one for you. The most popular 0 carb sweeteners are Splenda, Stevia Sweetener and Swerve. All of these are great sweeteners, I tend to switch between the three depending on price but typically try to lean towards Swerve.
Just Like Sugar – While on the topic of sweeteners, it’s probably a good time to mention artificial brown “sugar” sweeteners. I know from experience that they can be hard to get ahold of and the brown sugar blend tends to still have too much sugar. Some of my favorite brown sugar sweeteners are Brown Ideal Sweetener, Natural Sweet Brown Sweetener and Just Like Sugar Brown (my favorite but its a bit pricier).

Baking Chocolate
Hershey’s Sugar Free Baking Chips – These sugar free chocolate chips aren’t the best to just munch on, not that I was expecting you to take a shot of them! They do however work well with a decent amount of my recipes, which usually call for “sugar free chocolate chips.”

Protein Powder
Isopure Zero Carb Protein – I had done extensive research to find low carb protein powder, and let me tell you, it was hard work! Between reading tons of reviews, searching the web, and checking labels I was exhausted. But luckily I finally came across Isopure! Its one of the lowest carb protein powders out there, and also one of the tasties for shakes and certain recipes. Isopure does a great job of providing tons of different flavors from creamy vanilla to cookies & cream.

Protein / Diet Bars
Quest Nutrition Protein Bar – Theres a lot of talk out there about meal bars, and stalling weight loss. I too had experienced some stalled weight loss while experimenting with different meal bars. After hearing a whole lot about

Snacks / Treats
Blue Diamond Almonds – Finding easy low carb snacks is hard, in a world filled with carbohydrate snacks. One of the simplest low carb snacks I’ve grown to love are almonds! They’re easy to bring around, high in protein, nutritious, satisfying, healthy, and decently high fiber. One thing to watch out for is sodium levels, so I try to stick with my favorite, lightly salted almonds.
Hershey’s Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Bars – As I just mentioned, finding low carb snacks with shopping is quite the challenge. Hershey’s sugar free candies making things a lot easier! They do have a rather large amout of sugar alcohols, so consume in moderation. These little treats really taste like the real thing! They also do a great job with varities, with one of my favorites being their sugar-free milk chocolate caramel filled bars.
